Against spoonfeeding neoliberalism in teaching
- First biology: Diversity is value, on many aspects.
- First math: ask what happens when shapes and numbers are not exact
- First physics: mention how your linear all-else-equals gedankenexperiment is off and how quickly it can go way off
- First economics: always explain WHAT efficiency for whom, what you're leaving out of the calculation, how Jevons paradox influences your case, how value can be very different and more dimensional compared to price.
- First anything: not just abstract things in a book or on a screen, but skin-in-the-game experience in the real shared world, simple morals included and lots of cooperation in basic survival skills and helping nature.
- First societal learnings: discover how many societal systems protect big capital first and how to change that together and how that's never done
- Cut through bull-shit. Babies already see many ads. A few years later, before school even, kids can already mention some of what in commercials is not reality.
- First ICT: learn about accessibility in a very broad sense. Help people, don't force things on them. philosophize too. Understand ICT doesn't have to be about screens. T is last for a reason. Make sure C is not killing focus.
- Advanced ICT: after learning about how data structures and algorithms scale or don't and how to fit them to your problems and what the main flavours are, you'll also recognize the few situations and parts for which (very specific) LLMs might be a good idea
PS: teaching should not only by in formal education settings, but more generally in life too.
